Greetings GHS Class of 1964
We want to update you with how $10,000 of our $50,000 class gift to GHS is being used.  A grant for $5,000 from our class, matched by $5,000 from the state and county, is paying for iPads to be used by students in Honors Chemistry to record measurements.
A second $5,000 grant will be used to purchase a 3D printer for the Biology Department.  This printer will enable teachers and students to create plastic replicas of many objects such as fossils and a variety of structures within a cell.  The possibilities for this excellent teaching tool are close to limitless.
The approximately $40,000 remaining in our gift is held by the Alachua County Foundation.  Bruce Stechmiller is heading up the effort to determine where the remaining money can be used most effectively.
The GHS Class of 1962 was first to donate $50,000 shortly after their 50th Reunion, and challenged other classes to do the same.  The Class of 1963 and Class of 1964 have met the challenge, and the Class of 1965 and 1966 are working toward that goal.  These gifts will ensure that GHS students continue to get the same excellent foundation for success that we did!
